Covid Claims Another Victim as Morgan Sewing Triumphs

The Hervey Bay Squash Thursday Competition reached its climax last Thursday, but not before the covid virus affected the contest when Adam Davenport could not take his place in the Art By Rebecca Jane lineup allowing the Morgan Sewing team to run out winners 3 rubbers to one.

Grand Final Report

Art by Rebecca Jane line 1 player, Adam Davenport, contracted the Covid 19 virus just prior to the final and was unable to play. This left No 2, Cameron Hughes, having to play his own match plus the No 1 row.

The tie began with a nailbiter, with two of the veterans of Hevey Bay Squash, Paula Kostowski (ABRJ) and Ashley Hayler (MS) battling it out over 5 games. Paula Kostowski finally won a very tight fifth game 10 - 9, the closest possible result.

Whilst it was expected that the No.2 and No.3  matches would be close. Morgan Sewing No.3, Debbie Menton, had only beaten her opponent, Matthew Gray, once previously. But on the night she completely dominated her opponent, winning in 3 straight games. That boost propelled her teammate, Brendan Guy, to a similarly dominant win over Cameron Hughes handing the final to the Morgan Sewing Team.

Craig Pedersen completed the tie for Morgan Sewing, cleaning up a tiring Cameron Hughes in 3 games.

In the 5th to 8th final, Fraser Island Boat Charters overcame a season of disappointment to register a win over the injury affected Smartspace Websites.
