Monday Night Quickfire Continues

The Monday Night Quickfire Squash competition continues with players having started the second short season of the year.

Graeme Andersen, the competition organiser wants to remind everyone  that there are public holidays coming up during the season, which has meant a change in playing dates.

Tuesday Night Matches

Matches will be played the day after both public holidays this season on the following Tuesdays:

Tuesday 8th May at 6.30pm (day after the Labour Day holiday)

Tuesday 12 June at 6.30pm (day after the Queens BIrthday holiday)

Please advise Graeme well in advance if you cannot play on those nights (or any night for that matter!)

Next Committee Meeting

Because of the change in playing dates, the next Committee meeting  will be held on Tuesday 15th May at 7.00 pm at the home of Sue Stevens, our esteemed secretary.

The committee is spending some time this  year considering a few issues about the structure of the Association and its operating rules which have well and truly reached their use by date. This includes:

• Reviewing the competition rules and developing a new set of rules for both Monday and Thursday night competitions
• Changing the name of the association from Hervey Bay Squash Rackets Association to something like Hervey Bay Squash (the game of Squash Rackets no longer exists)
• Developing a set of roles and responsibilities for committee members
• Some other associated issues

Any feedback from members would be appreciated.

There should also be more news on some planned social events and the Annual Club Championships to be held later in the year.

Junior Squash

Because of increased numbers, the Junior Development Program  will again incorporate a Squash competition. Each week, players will play a match (best of three games) according to a draw (Draw coming soon).

Please advise Raymond if your child cannot make it to juniors so that matches can be rearranged accordingly
